Abstract: This application provides a robust database package for a typical technology transfer office (TTO).

A technology transfer office is typically responsible for managing the inventions created by an academic institution. The process usually begins with the filing of an invention disclosure by one or several researcher employees, the creation of a file for the technology, and the assignment of the technology to a licensing officer (an employee of the TTO.) The office may need to file one or more patent applications for the technology, and may need to hire one or more patent agents/attorneys and law firms for the prosecution and maintenance of the application. The office may also need to execute some contracts pertaining to the technology, such as confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, collaborative agreements, or technology licenses. All of this information must be tracked in a concurrently-shared database and must be aggregated in the context of some standard reports. Finally, some level of security must be applied: employees must be able to login with a username and password, and must be assigned levels of permissions that limit access only to their technologies or to all technologies.

This application fulfills all of these purposes. It provides user-level access to a concurrently shared database of all of this information, and enforces privileges for designated users. Each user is provided a "dashboard" showing assigned technologies and the status of associated agreements and patent applications. The main database areas - Technologies, Inventors, Agreements, and Patent Applications - may be viewed and filtered by desired criteria. The database may also be queried in many ways, and queries may be bookmarked for frequent use. Authorized users may view some standard reports (e.g., the number of invention disclosures over the past (x) months, or the number of licenses per employee in the past year.) Finally, all aspects of the database may be managed by authorized users.
