Abstract: This application for PocketPC PDAs is a database and mapping application specifically designed for geocaching, a kind of high-tech scavenger hunt involving GPS devices. The application allows the user to create a database of "geocaches," including details about the cache and notes from recent visitors. This information may be imported from some standard reports created by geocaching.com, a popular website for geocaching. The database is also searchable and filterable. The application also provides a grid-based map of all geocaches in the database, as well as the user's current position and a compass of current bearing. The user may also designate a target geocache and receive information about its distance, direction, and estimated arrival based on the current rate of travel.
The application is broadly customizable. The map may be configured with different major/minor latitude/longitude gridlines; different styles and sizes of compasses; and different colors and styles of icons for the current position and nearby geocaches. Also, the user may select different predefined color schemes for the map and compass, and may edit the color schemes within the CacehDragon application.
