This is the personal website of David Stein. Its purposes are to inform visitors about me and my interests, to make some resources available to the Internet public, and to serve as a central reception point for correspondence.
I am an associate patent attorney with Eschweiler & Associates, an intellectual property boutique firm in the Cleveland area. The current focus of my practice is patent preparation and prosecution. My primary intellectual and professional interests reside in the software arts. I have been writing software for virtually my entire life, and my work continues today on a variety of projects, including artificial intelligence, database design and data-driven applications, and web programming and services. I am also working toward a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) license, primarily out of intellectual curiosity. Software is also the focus of my professional efforts, and I am an ardent advocate of intellectual property protection (particularly by patents) in the software arts. However, my science and technology interests cover a spectrum of arts ranging from biotechnology/life sciences to semiconductor fabrication techniques. My professional skills are similarly and by necessity broad. I have experience with technology licensing, technology transfer issues, and patent porfolio management (drawing on a five-year career as associate patent counsel with a local healthcare institution.) This background is critical for procuring patents that fit with each client's business interests.
